North Fork Koktuli Open Lead

The dark line in this arial photo from March 2010 is open water. The main stem of the stream is frozen, but springs along its southwest bank bring warmer groundwater up that keeps it ice-free.
— This photo was taken for a project looking at open leads as evidence of groundwater flow near the Pebble Mine Prospect in southwest Alaska.
