This shallow, drained pond is probably a graben - formed as the bedrock here shifts toward the cliffs above Grewingk Lake just north of here. The crack running along the left (south) edge of the dry pond may be evidence that motion is continuing more quickly, or that ice plugs in the sub-surface have recently melted.
