Names flowed through my brain. Names of mountains and rivers, of islands and bays. We’d pored over them on digital maps, not even knowing how the majority of them were pronounced. Most left our brains as soon as they arrived. A few stuck: Portland Canal, Yakutat Bay, Icy Bay, Copper River, Knik Arm, False Pass...
