Usibelli Coal

Where does Usibelli's coal go after it's mined? (2009)

During 2009, a little less than half of the coal mined from the Healy area by Usibelli Coal Mine Inc. went overseas out of the Seward coal dock to Asia and Chile. The remainder was split between civilian and military heat and power generation along the northern section of Alaska's Railbelt power grid. To generate this plot, we combined data from several sources:

A) Newsminer article: Usibelli increases stated reserves

B) Usibelli's "Customers" page

C) GVEA press release about their coal power generation
